Strong x-ray emission from high-temperature plasmas produced by intense irradiation of clusters.

چکیده
The interaction of an intense laser pulse with large s,100 Åd clusters present in pulsed gas jets is shown to produce novel plasmas with electron temperatures far in excess of that predicted by abovethreshold ionization theory. The enhanced absorption of the laser light by the dense clusters results in the production of high ion charge states via collisional ionization resulting in strong x-ray emission from the hot plasma.

keV x-ray spectroscopy of plasmas produced by the intense picosecond irradiation of a gas of xenon clusters
We have studied the characteristics of x-ray emission in the 12–16 Å range from plasmas produced by the irradiation of a target of Xe clusters with picosecond laser pulses at intensities near 1017 W cm−2. These plasmas exhibit strong emission from Ni-like through to Mn-like Xe. We find that the strength and character of the x-ray spectra are very similar when either 1053 or 526 nm laser pulses ...
متن کاملShift of K-lines in Laser Produced Dense Plasmas
In order to develop X-ray probes for Compton scattering on warm dense plasmas K-lines have been investigated by irradiation of solid targets with intense ultra-short pulsed lasers, e. g. spectroscopy of chlorine Kα (2p→ 1s) and Kβ (3p→ 1s) was performed at Europa Laser Facility LLNL. Measurements of the characteristic X-ray emission show that average line positions shift as function of laser en...

A new chromium(III) complex containing 4ʹ-hydroxy-2,2ʹ:6ʹ,2ʺ-terpyridine (tpyOH) has been prepared by the reaction of CrCl3. 6H2O with tpyOH in the presence of metallic zinc to afford the new complex [CrCl3(tpyOH)] (1). The complex 1 was used as a suitable precursor for the preparation of Cr2O3 nanoparticles by the simple calcination method at three different annealed temperatures of 400, 600, ...
متن کاملX-ray generation by femtosecond laser pulses and its application to soft X-ray imaging microscope
We have developed laser-produced plasma X-ray sources using femtosecond laser pulses at lOHz repetition rate in a table-top size in order to investigate basic mechanism of X-ray emission from laser-matter interactions and its application to a X-ray microscope. In a soft X-ray region over 5 nm wavelength, laser-plasma X-ray emission from a solid target achieved an intense flux of photons of the ...
متن کاملGiant attosecond fluctuations of local optical fields in disordered nanostructured media
We have recently witnessed phenomenal progress in the physics of ultrafast ~femtosecond! phenomena ~see also references therein!. Ultraintense laser pulses, with intensity up to 10 W/cm, have been generated whose interaction with matter induces a wide range of deeply nonlinear effects. These effects comprise the generation of high harmonics from the visible to x-ray region, strong x-ray emissio...
